The Wheeling Park High School Speech and Debate Team is walking the red carpet of success today after another Oscar-winning performance at the West Virginia Interscholastic Forensics League State Speech and Debate tournament held Saturday at West Virginia University.

Park captured its 35th consecutive state championship title under the direction Bill Cornforth, who has been a part of each of the past 35 wins, serving as head coach for the last 10 years. Assistant coaches are Kayla Nelson, Joshua Fromhart and Lori Mathieu.

Cornforth attributes the team members' success to their great work ethic, energy and motivation to win as their predecessors have done for 34 years. He said the team roster of 40 members does not need a cheerleader to get them motivated.
