Wheeling Intelligencer: County gives Grand Vue Park $30K for operations

If not for the Marshall County Commission giving it money, Grand Vue Park would not exist, according to park Manager Craig White.

Commissioners Donald Mason, Brian Schambach and Robert Miller Jr. on Tuesday approved disbursing $30,000 to the park as requested by White.

The money is used for general operation of the venue, including paying bills. Mason said the park does not create enough revenue to sustain itself, which is why the commission gives it money.

Mason said he believes there are very few parks in the country such as Grand Vue's that are self sustaining. The sum is the second half of funding that had been approved by the commission in the past.

"If it wasn't for the county, Grand Vue would not exist," White said during a meeting intermission. "We're trying to become self sufficient so we require less help from them. Without these guys none of us are there. We work well together."
