"I would hope this would wake him up over at the White House," Manchin said of the Feb. 16 crash, which garnered national attention.

While in the area Monday, McKinley, R-Wheeling, agreed Congress should focus on getting the Keystone XL pipeline moving forward.

"It's a safer way to transport crude," McKinley said, while noting he has not yet seen a final report on the train incident.

McKinley, too, acknowledged the president is likely to veto any legislation dealing with the pipeline project, but expressed hope enough votes could be found to override such a veto.

"People are going to understand where the problem is," McKinley said.
