WDTV TV: EPA hearings on power plan underway nationwide

Three out of four public hearings nationwide on a controversial proposed rule by the Environmental Protection Agency began on Tuesday. On June 2, the EPA announced it's plan to put the Clean Power Plan in place by 2015 in order to cut down on carbon dioxide emissions given off by existing coal fired power plants.

On Tuesday, hearings started in Atlanta, Denver and Washington D.C. A two-day hearing will also be held in Pittsburgh which is set to begin on Thursday.

Since the EPA's announcement officials have received positive and negative feedback. Many elected officials in West Virginia are speaking out against the ruling, prior to the Pittsburgh hearings, in order to defend people who are fearful of losing their jobs.
