The United States Department of Education visited Morgantown on Friday, Aug. 22, to honor one of the West Virginia schools being recognized as a 2014 Green Ribbon School — Eastwood Elementary.

Andrea Suarez Falken, director of U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools, was present to tour the school, see how the sustainably minded institution operates, and comment on what she saw.

“Has the architect of the school won an award? They should,” Falken said, impressed by the design of the school and its sky-lit hallways and classrooms.
