McKinley Finishes Busy District Tour

Washington, DC– Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) spent the past two weeks crisscrossing the First District, listening to senior citizens, visiting energy businesses, and honoring the legacy of a West Virginia hero.

The district work period began last week with a roundtable in Barbour County, discussing the issues facing rural communities and our senior citizens. This theme was picked up in the Seniors’ Summit hosted by Rep. McKinley’s staff and Fairmont State University on Thursday. Joined by representatives from the WV Bureau of Senior Citizens, seniors’ advocates, state elected officials, and local senior centers, Rep. McKinley led a discussion about how West Virginia’s elderly are best served.

Rep. McKinley also had the honor of speaking at the Ed Kelley Award presentation in Keyser. The annual award is a “powerful ceremony is one that could be and should be replicated all across the country,” said McKinley.

This week, Rep. McKinley discussed education in Moundsville, post office closing in Hundred, and burdensome regulations in Fairmont. He also presented medals to the family of Corporal Bruce Oiler, USMC. Corporal Oiler had his nine medals stolen while returning from Vietnam over forty years ago, but through the work of Rep. McKinley’s staff, his family was presented with replacements on Wednesday.
