Congressman David McKinley is in the area this week meeting with local businesses about job creation.

Recently, he announced over $1 million in grant funding to WVU’s School of Medicine, Department of Chemistry, and other programs to support research.

Congressman McKinley says he works to bring as much funding to universities as possible, in hopes that jobs will follow.

“All you have to do is go to any other university and you’re gonna see how much activity is taking place around that based on the research being done at that University,” McKinley said.  “I just think we can do the same thing here and so does President Gee. We’re absolutely on the same page. Let’s just continue to keep pushing.”

Congressman McKinley says he’s seen research help other cities renew their economy and hopes the same happens in North Central West Virginia.
