Human Services
Health and human services provide essential medical, economic, and social support that helps our most vulnerable citizens live independent, healthy lives.
Through the years, Minnesota has maintained a strong tradition of lending a helping hand to our neighbors and those in need.
Protecting our social safety net starts at infancy with vital supports that provide opportunities for our children to succeed through early development, literacy, and childcare for families. Investments in HeadStart (the maternal and child health block grant) and child development programs are necessary to ensure the success of future generations.
As our nation recovers from the worst economic recession in 60 years, working families, seniors, and people with disabilities in Minnesota are depending on assistance to help pay their heating bills, weatherize their homes, purchase prescriptions, and provide food for their families. We must protect this critical funding for economic aid programs such as the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) that help those who struggle in our communities.
We must continue to invest in these services and supports that make up our social safety net to help increase economic security for the children, families, seniors, and people with disabilities.
