Jul 8, 2015 Press Release
“Obviously everyone—including Secretary Clinton—knows Chairman Gowdy issued a subpoena back in March because he also issued a press release about it at the time. It appears clear that Secretary Clinton was answering a question about whether she deleted emails ‘while facing a subpoena.’ She produced her work-related emails to the State Department in December, which was months before the Chairman’s subpoena in March. The Committee’s press release today supposedly revealing the existence of the subpoena is nothing but a stunt in this latest taxpayer-funded attack against Secretary Clinton.”

We are disappointed that Chairman Gowdy decided not to hold a vote today on releasing the transcript of Sidney Blumenthal’s deposition, particularly since we have no hearings, interviews, briefings, or other activities on today’s schedule. We believe it is an abuse of power for Republicans to selectively release Mr. Blumenthal’s emails while at the same time withholding the deposition transcript from the American people.

Chairman Gowdy explained in his letter that he intends to “remain focused on discharging the mission given to us by the House of Representatives.” Yet, the Select Committee waited more than six months to send a request for new documents to the State Department and nearly a year to send new document requests to the Pentagon and the CIA. The Committee has spent more than $3.7 million in taxpayer funds in the more than a year that it has operated, and in that time it has yet to interview a single witness from the Department of Defense. The Committee has also not held a single hearing in 22 weeks, despite the Chairman’s assertion that there would be public hearings on a monthly basis.

Politico Ran Bogus Leak in Front-Page Story
“it now appears that someone who was given access to the Select Committee’s documents leaked doctored information to the press in order to make unsubstantiated allegations against Secretary Clinton. “
Jun 30, 2015 Press Release
“Despite taking the unprecedented step of releasing Mr. Blumenthal’s emails—and only his emails—Chairman Gowdy continues to block the release of Mr. Blumenthal’s deposition transcript, even though one of his own Republican colleagues disagrees with him and wants to release it too. House rules require a vote, Democrats insisted on that vote, and the Chairman has now confirmed that he will follow the rules and schedule a vote. The American people deserve to see what this transcript shows—how Republicans have been spending millions of tax dollars investigating Secretary Clinton and her personal relationships rather than the attacks on Benghazi.”
Jun 24, 2015 Press Release
Since all of the steps have been fulfilled as required by the Deposition Procedures adopted by the House, we request that you promptly schedule a business meeting of the Select Committee so Members may consider, debate, and vote on this important matter. Thank you for your consideration.
Jun 22, 2015 Press Release
“Before today, Chairman Gowdy had not officially released a single email from a single witness in this entire investigation, which has lasted more than a year. Now, he has apparently decided that this one witness is so critical that his emails—and his alone—must be released. Yet the Chairman refuses to release Mr. Blumenthal’s deposition transcript, which includes his responses to hundreds of questions posed by Republicans about these very same emails and puts them in proper context. By the Chairman’s own admission, these emails have absolutely nothing to do with the attacks in Benghazi, and their selective release demonstrates the Select Committee’s singular focus on attacking Hillary Clinton and her bid for president.”

Democrats Renew Call to #ReleasetheTranscript; Details Revealed About Republican Questioning
“Now that Mr. Blumenthal’s attorneys have completed their review, the American people can read for themselves his responses to hundreds of questions Republicans posed during their day-long session. The transcript reveals exactly how Republicans are spending your taxpayer dollars—investigating Secretary Clinton and her personal relationships rather than the attacks in Benghazi. Over the past week, the Select Committee has become a sieve, with anonymous ‘sources’ repeatedly leaking selected excerpts of Mr. Blumenthal’s emails out of context. It’s time to end this circus. The Committee should immediately release all of Mr. Blumenthal’s emails and his full deposition transcript together.”
Jun 17, 2015 Press Release
“If Republicans truly believe in transparency, then they should have no objection”
Obviously, the full transcript of Mr. Blumenthal’s deposition will provide important background and context to his emails. Otherwise, there would have been no reason to hold the deposition in the first place. We would be happy to have our staffs work together to review both the emails and the deposition transcript to identify any content that we all agree should be redacted before public release.
Jun 16, 2015 Press Release
“Committee Democrats have always supported transparency, so we request that the Chairman release the full transcript of today’s deposition with Mr. Blumenthal at the same time that he releases Mr. Blumenthal’s emails. If Republicans truly believe in transparency, then they should have no objection to this course of action.”
