Swearing in is kind of a big deal.

It’s a new year, a new Congress, new faces, and a fresh start for the People’s House. All the excitement with so many people in town is a reminder of the honor we have to be the voices of the American people.

But before we can roll up our sleeves and get to work, we go through swearing in.

That means left hand on a Bible, Torah, Koran, Bhagavad-Gita, or Constitution…

…right hand in the air, and swearing an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.

….it also means children. Lots and lots of children.
