Internships

Washington, DC

In my Washington, D.C. office, internships run throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters for college students. Although all internships in all offices are unpaid, students gain invaluable work experience. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Washington, interns' responsibilities will vary. They will be asked to answer phones, research legislation, assist my legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.

If you are interested in pursuing an internship in my Washington, D.C. office please select that option on your application. You may reach Erin Fleck, my Staff Assistant who coordinates our Capitol Internship Program, with any questions you may have at erin.fleck@mail.house.gov .

Please know that internships in my Washington, D.C. office are highly competitive. Because of high demand and limited office space, I'm sorry to say that I am forced to turn away many highly qualified candidates each program cycle.

Florida

In my Florida office, interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with constituent case work or work on District-based projects of importance.

If you are interested in interning in my Miami District Office, please select that option on your application. You may contact Aida Santiesteban, my intern coordinator in the Miami District office at Aida.Santiesteban@mail.house.gov if you have any questions.
