Washington, DC- Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4), released the following statement after voting in support of a continuing resolution measure that would fully fund the government through December 15th while fully defunding ObamaCare.  The measure passed the House by a vote of 230-189.

“The American people have been crying out for relief from this bad law since the day it was signed.  Today, Republicans in the House stand united around a solution to fund government while fully defunding ObamaCare. It is now in the Senate’s hands to choose between continuing to burden the American people under this trainwreck or joining us in providing much-needed relief from its mandates, taxes, and increasing costs. I believe this is a fight worth fighting for the people of Mississippi, and I believe the American people are with us.”

The continuing resolution passed today would keep the full faith and credit of the United States, and would also provide continued funding for the Department of Defense and seniors who rely on Social Security. It would prevent any increase in spending over current budget levels.

Palazzo is an original cosponsor of H.R. 2682, the Defund ObamaCare Act, which was introduced by Representative Tom Graves and Senator Ted Cruz in July and added to the House leadership plan this week after conservative members called for stronger defunding measures.  He is also  an original cosponsor of H.R. 3121, the American Health Care Reform Act, an ObamaCare replacement bill introduced earlier this week by members of the conservative Republican Study Committee.
