Service Academy Nominations

In my role as a United States Congressman, I have the honor of nominating young men and women from the Third Congressional District to attend our Nation's Service Academies. Each academy offers young men and women a free college education at a highly-ranked, nationally-recognized academic program while preparing them for an officer's commission in the armed forces.

Acceptance at an Academy involves at least a nine year obligation to the Service - four years at the Academy and five years with the Service. Appointments in the Third Congressional District are very competitive. Therefore, you are encouraged to also apply through the offices of United States Senators James Lankford and Jim Inhofe.

If you are the child of an active duty service member or deceased or disabled veteran, please contact Allison Litterell in my Yukon office for information about additional nominating authorities.

There are four service academies in the United States that require a Congressional nomination, including the Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Military Academy at West Point, and the Naval Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, does not require a Congressional nomination. In order to receive my nomination, you must be between the ages of 17 and 23, a U.S. citizen at the time you enter the Academy, unmarried with no legal obligation to support a child or dependent, and a legal resident of the Third Congressional District of Oklahoma.
