Washington, DC – Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) released the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 3134, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act and H.R. 3504, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act:

“As someone who has always been a strong opponent of abortion, it sickens me to know that people are profiting from this already brutal act. I don’t want to see one more cent of the tax payers' hard-earned money going towards Planned Parenthood.   The devious acts of this organization contribute to the moral depravity of our country.   I’m saddened and deeply concerned about the future of our nation and its people.

“My votes today were intended to provide a voice for the voiceless.  I believe in the sanctity of human life and that every human life is entitled to the rights and protections provided under our U.S. laws.  I will continue to fight for those who have no chance to fight for themselves.”

Together these bills will strip federal funding for Planned Parenthood and strengthen protections for babies that survive abortions. According to the Congressional Budget Office, defunding Planned Parenthood for a year would cut an estimated $235 million in federal spending.
