Washington, DC – Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4), released the following statement Tuesday after voting in favor of H.R. 7, the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” which would permanently codify policies that have previously been used to ensure federal funds are not used to cover abortion procedures in the United States or other countries. The bill passed 227-188.

“Last week, thousands of Americans made the annual “March for Life” to the Supreme Court to show their support for the unborn, and students with the Diocese of Biloxi were among them. I voted in favor of today’s legislation because I share the conviction that every child is a blessing, and because the majority of Americans do not want their tax dollars going to support abortion procedures.”

The House-passed bill would close certain loopholes in the Affordable Care Act, including tax breaks for health plans that include elective abortion coverage. It would also provide protections for health professionals who choose not to participate in abortion procedures.
