Representative Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement regarding the Obama Administration’s announcement of new sanctions against Russia:

“The Obama Administration has turned a blind-eye to Russia’s global aggression over the last eight years, so I am left wondering why they only now decided to act.  Today's action is positive, but long overdue.  In 2014, President Obama warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that ‘there would be costs’ if Russia invaded Ukraine.  Shortly after that statement, Vladimir Putin thumbed his nose at President Obama and the world watched as the Russians invaded Ukraine.  America cannot afford to be a passive player to history.  I look forward to working with the Trump administration to once again see America lead from the front, not from behind."
