Request A Flag
Flags that have been flown over the United States Capitol are available for purchase through Senator Heitkamp's Office.
Flags may be flown on any day of the year to honor speical occasions, events, and holidays. A certificate will accompany each flag, showing the day (if applicable) and the occasion for which it was flown.
There are two ways to request an American flag from Senator Heitkamp's office.
OPTION 1: Online Payment Request
Click here to begin the flag request process online. You will be redirected to Pay.gov; a website operated by the U.S. Treasury Department used to ensure electronic payments to Federal Government Agencies are secure. You can use your credit card, PayPal account, or ACH Debit bank account; this is the fastest method.
Please Note:
- Flag requests must be submittted no later than one week before the fly date and no more than 30 days in advance of the fly date.
- Please allow approximately 3 to 4 weeks to receive your flag after the flag has been flown.
OPTION 2: Check or Money Order Request
Click here for the printable request form. Click the "Print Form" button at the bottom of the page when completed, or the "Save Form" button to save a copy of the form to the computer to print at a later time. The form will automatically calculate the cost.
Mail a printed copy of the completed flag form and a check or money order, made out to the "Keeper of the Stationery", to:

Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for Senator Heitkamp's office to process your flag request, particularly if you would like your flag flown on a specific date.
