Rep. McKinley Votes to Keep Thousands on the Job, Invest in America's Infrastructure

Washington, D.C.–Today, Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-WV), voted to keep construction workers on the job and continue to improve America's roads, highways and bridges.

"For months, the House has been conducting bipartisan negotiations to continue the funding of the Highway Trust Fund without raising taxes," said Rep. McKinley. "The passage of this bill was critical in keeping more than 700,000 construction workers on the job and improving the safety of roads, bridges and highways."

Based on his construction background, Rep. McKinley understood the importance of funding the Highway Trust Fund and voted for its passage. The House successfully identified the necessary money to be used for the fund without raising taxes.

"We prefer a long term solution that provides certainty over a period of five to six years but that wasn't the plan that was presented to us," added McKinley. "We need to continue working together to develop a plan that will make long term investments in our infrastructure."
