Washington, D.C.—Today, Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-WV) issued the following statement after the WVU Board of Governors agreed with the Presidential Selection Committee and selected E. Gordon Gee as the University’s next President:

“Gordon Gee is an enormously talented individual that can contribute a lot to strengthen the University,” said Rep. McKinley. “I have always had a good relationship with him, having worked with him before as WVU’s President. He was focused on the University then and after meeting with him a month ago, it reinforced my belief that he is the obvious leader for West Virginia University. Gordon Gee is respected around the nation and has held key roles in higher education. I am delighted they have named him to the permanent position.”
