McKinley Votes to Strengthen Medicare, Provide Better Care for Seniors

Washington, DC– Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) voted today to end the threat of disastrous Medicare cuts for seniors and their doctors. H.R. 2, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, was passed in the House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support.

Today we voted to strengthen Medicare, protect access for seniors, and save billions by making true reforms,” McKinley said.

Too many times, Congress has kicked the can and issued band-aid solutions to protecting seniors and their doctors from dangerous cuts to Medicare. The American people deserve better and today Congress is delivering. By permanently ending this threat, seniors can have peace of mind that Medicare will be there for them,” said McKinley.

In addition to ending the Sustainable Growth Rate cuts in reimbursements, H.R. 2 also renews the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Community Health Centers, and strengthens Medicare with bipartisan reforms.

This legislation will improve care for seniors and provide real savings for taxpayers. Democrats and Republicans worked together today to modernize entitlements for the first time in two decades,” McKinley said.
