McKinley Votes to Cut Obamacare Taxes

Washington, DC– Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) voted today to repeal the burdensome tax on medical innovation. A feature of the President’s disastrous and unaffordable Obamacare law, the Medical Device Tax will hurt seniors by blocking innovation.

Seniors deserve better than to be treated like lines on a budget for Washington bureaucrats. Obamacare was funded on the backs of seniors by cutting their care and hiking taxes on the life-saving devices they rely on. Today’s legislation fulfills a promise to West Virginia families and businesses that we will repeal this destructive law and protect our seniors,” said McKinley.

H.R. 160, the Protect Medical Innovation Act, would repeal the 2.3% excise tax on medical device manufacturers. The tax would gut research and development on life-saving devices and destroy American manufacturing jobs.
