McKinley Votes for "21st Century Cures" Reforms

Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) voted today in favor of the bipartisan H.R. 6, the 21st Century Cures Act. The bill modernizes and streamlines the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) process for approving new medicines and prioritizes research finding cures for deadly diseases.

America has a rich history of scientific discovery, from putting a man on the moon to curing polio. With the right focus, we can do the same in finding cures for devastating diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s,” McKinley said. “21st Century Cures will improve our lives by bringing research from the lab to our families.”

Under the 21st Century Cures Act, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will receive nearly $10 billion to fund important scientific research. Clinical trials for new treatments would be modernized with updated technology and better recruitment tools. With new research and a streamlined process to bring treatments and cures to patients, the 21st Century Cures Act will save lives and improve the health of all Americans.
