McKinley Statement on Secretary Jewell's Visit to West Virginia

Washington, DC– Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) released the following statement on Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell’s visit to a West Virginia coal mine today:

It is about time Obama Administration officials came to visit the areas devastated by their relentless War on Coal. In just the last few weeks, thousands of families have lost their jobs and three more coal-fired power plants have shut down as a result of the onslaught of regulations coming from Washington. West Virginia’s families deserve better.

“Secretary Jewell should report back what she sees – communities more concerned about jobs and economic growth than an ideological agenda. West Virginians want peace of mind about the future of their state’s economy, not more regulations from the White House.

“I invite other members of the Obama Administration, such as Secretary Moniz and EPA Administrator McCarthy to follow Secretary Jewell’s lead and see first-hand the human toll of their anti-coal policies.”
