McKinley Opposes Obama Amnesty Overreach

Washington, DC– Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) voted today against a funding bill that would fund the Department of Homeland Security without restrictions on President Obama’s executive amnesty of five million illegal aliens. A federal court order is currently preventing implementation of the executive actions.

“The President’s overreach on immigration is what prompted this fight. Twenty-two times the President said he did not have the authority to re-write the nation’s immigration laws and grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. But he did it anyway.” said McKinley.

“President Obama has tried to make this debate about national security,”McKinley said.“But it is Obama’s executive overreach that is endangering our nation. By undermining the rule of law, threatening our electric grid with power plant closures, and weakening our armed forces, his actions are hurting American families. We cannot ignore his executive overreach.”

Today’s vote occurred after the House passed, with Rep. McKinley’s support, legislation to stop Obama’s executive amnesty but Senate Democrats obstructed a vote on the bill.

“Americans deserve better than President Obama’s executive actions that circumvent Congress and ignore the rule of law. Fortunately, the federal courts have stopped Obama’s amnesty plans, and this issue will now be decided there,” said McKinley.
