McKinley Keeps Promise, Votes to Send Obamacare Repeal to President Obama's Desk

Washington, DC– Today the House voted to repeal President Obama’s flawed health care law and stop taxpayer dollars from going to fund disturbing practices at Planned Parenthood.

“Today Congress used a unique procedural approach to break the obstruction and gridlock and send this bill to President Obama’s desk,” said McKinley. “Now the American public will be able to see clearly who is responsible for higher premiums, less choice, and more government control over their health care.”

“Since winning the House in 2011, Republicans have fought to protect Americans from the harm caused by this law, casting dozens of votes to repeal, defund, and reform Obamacare,” said McKinley. “At every turn we have been opposed by liberals determined to defend this disastrous law. Today we’ve finally gotten past that.”

“Congressional Republicans are doing what we said we would do – using every tool at our disposal to remove the burden the health care law is placing on families across the country,” said McKinley.

The bill also prevents taxpayer dollars from supporting Planned Parenthood, the country’s largest abortion provider. Instead, it diverts money for women’s health to community health centers.

“Anybody who watched the videos of Planned Parenthood officials describing horrific acts done to unborn babies came away disgusted,” said McKinley. “Taxpayers should not be supporting an organization that exhibits such a callous disregard for life.”
