Senator Heidi Heitkamp United States Senator for North Dakota

Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced two federal grants totaling $140,000 to support housing repairs and improvements for low-income North Dakotans on Turtle Mountain and in north central North Dakota.

“Safe and affordable housing is a lifeline for families, enabling them to put a roof over their heads and remain secure,” said Heitkamp. “Yet too many North Dakotans, especially in Indian Country, live in devastating housing conditions. These federal funds will help some of North Dakota’s most vulnerable populations clean up and repair homes.”

The federal funds are distributed as follows:

  • Turtle Mountain Housing Authority: $70,000
  • Souris Basin Planning Council: $70,000

These federal funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Housing Preservation Grants.
