McMorris Rodgers Applauds Passage of Regulatory Integrity Act

House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed the Regulatory Integrity Act of 2016 (H.R. 5226). Introduced by Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), the bill provides greater transparency to the federal government’s rulemaking process in response to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s propaganda during the crafting of Waters of the United States (WOTUS).

“Thanks to its consistent regulatory onslaught, this administration will go down in history as one of the biggest barriers to creating the next innovative startup, discovering cures, or running a farm,” said McMorris Rodgers. “Even worse, they’re using taxpayer dollars to lobby for their policy agenda, and then attempting to block the American people from knowing about it. This goes against our values as a representative government of, by, and for the people, and we’re not standing for it.

“With the Regulatory Integrity Act, led by the great work of Rep. Walberg, the EPA and other agencies will be required to post all public comments during the proposed rule stage in a central location, such as online. That means the American people will have increased access to fair, accurate information about the rules that directly impact their daily lives, and be better protected from propaganda efforts by unaccountable bureaucrats disconnected from their mission.”
