Kentucky Tornado Disaster Assistance

Senator McConnell's prayers go out for the families of the victims and to all those who have been affected by the terrible storms that hit Kentucky. Senator McConnell's office has been in contact with the Governor's office will continue to closely follow developments to help wherever we can.

Below, please find emergency information for the Red Cross, Kentucky Emergency Management, locations of disaster recovery centers across the state and information for missing loved ones.

DISASTER RECOVERY CENTERS OPEN TO ASSIST DISASTER SURVIVORS

The following KYEM/FEMA disaster recovery centers will open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m daily to help survivors with property damage and other setbacks from the recent tornadoes.

Locate a shelter

People can find Red Cross shelters by contacting local emergency officials, visiting www.redcross.org, or calling 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767). iPhone users can download a free Red Cross shelter view app from the app store.

Missing Persons

Those affected can let loved ones know they are safe by registering on the secure Red Cross Safe and Well website, where they can also update their Facebook and Twitter status. If you don’t have computer access, you can also register by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Loved ones outside the disaster area can use Safe and Well to find information about loved ones in the affected areas by using a pre-disaster phone number or complete address. Smart phone users can visit www.redcross.org/safeandwell and click on the “List Yourself as Safe and Well” or “Search for friends and family” link.

AmeriCorps Volunteer Reception Center in West Liberty, Kentucky

Residents of West Liberty, Kentucky who are in need of debris removal, tarping and shelter services can contact AmeriCorps Volunteer Reception Center.

SBA DISASTER LOAN OUTREACH

The SBA provides one-on-one assistance to homeowners, renters and business owners seeking disaster assistance for losses caused by the severe storms, tornadoes, winds and flooding that occurred Feb. 29 through March 3, 2012.

A FEMA representative will be present in the Disaster Loan Outreach Center to assist survivors with questions about registration or an application.
