House Republican Conference Chair (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed the Halt Tax Increases on the Middle Class and Seniors Act (H.R. 3590). The bill, introduced by Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ), repeals an Obamacare tax increase and reinstates the previous allowable deduction level.

“We want a health care system and tax structure that empowers people, not one that stands in their way, which is exactly what we are offering in our Better Way agenda,” said McMorris Rodgers. “America’s families and seniors work hard to make ends meet and provide a better life for themselves and their families. It is unconscionable to saddle them with tax increases to fund unauthorized spending under the President’s health care law. Today, led by Rep. McSally’s great work on this legislation, the House voted to remove this burden from their lives, and to move one step closer towards putting the American people back in the driver’s seat.”
