Washington, DC – Senate Democrats heard from top health officials about the need for quick action on emergency funding to stop the spread of the Zika virus.  Without this funding, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will not be able to support states and territories with mosquito control and surveillance, and the National Institutes of Health will have to slow its research and development of a vaccine.

Senate Democrats voted to approve the President’s full emergency request in May and helped secure passage of a compromise measure in September.
