On Wednesday, August 3, 2016, Congressman Blake Farenthold held a roundtable with local Refugio-area leaders. In attendance were Congressman Farenthold, Congressman Farenthold’s District Director JD Kennedy and Field Representative Luis Buentello, Refugio Mayor Wanda Dukes, Chief of Police Andy Lopez, Refugio Chamber of Commerce member Jennifer Ragle, and board members of the Refugio County Community Development Foundation Jessica Bonilla and Amanda Mendoza. During their meeting, issues discussed included programs to facilitate cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement to support border security efforts, I-69, city infrastructure, and potential new business opportunities in the region. After the roundtable, Congressman Farenthold released the following statement:

“I enjoyed meeting with Mayor Dukes, Chief Lopez, and members of both the Refugio Chamber of Commerce and the Refugio County Community Development Foundation yesterday,” said Congressman Farenthold. “Our meeting was productive, and visiting with local leaders helps ensure that legislation I work on in Washington D.C.  is reflective of the needs of communities in the 27th District.”
