WASHINGTON, DC – Today, May 12, 2015, Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) released the following statement after the Department of Energy “DOE” approved Cheniere Energy’s LNG export terminal in Corpus Christi, Texas.

“This is a big deal for our local, state, and national economy,” said Congressman Farenthold. “Cheniere has been waiting for approval longer than I’ve served in Congress. With final approval from the DOE, Cheniere Energy is ready to break ground and begin construction on their LNG Project site. Once started, this project will create jobs, stimulate our national economy, secure America’s energy independence, stabilize natural gas prices, and promote a stronger American foreign policy.  I want to personally thank and congratulate Cheniere Energy, especially CEO Charif Souki, who persisted and worked to bring this LNG project to Corpus Christi.”
