After Severe Flooding, Administration Issues Major Disaster Declaration in Missouri

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) issued the following statement after President Obama officially issued a major disaster declaration for several counties in the 3rd District:

“The extreme flooding Missouri experienced last month left much of the state at a standstill. It has now been a few weeks later and individuals are still trying to get assistance and questions to their answers on how to move forward. I am pleased the president responded to the request of our state’s congressional delegation and issued a major disaster declaration for individual assistance to help those Missourians who need help recovering. As always, my offices in Jefferson City, Wentzville, and Washington, Mo., stand ready and willing to help individuals in need.”

The counties in the 3rd District included in the major disaster declaration are: Camden, Cole, Franklin, Gasconade, Lincoln, Maries, Jefferson, Osage, and St. Charles. Individuals, homeowners, and businesses in these counties are eligible for a number disaster assistance programs administered by the Federal government, including:

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) – Assistance to Individuals and Households

- Provides financial help or direct services to those who have necessary expenses and serious needs if they are unable to meet the needs through other means.

Small Business Administration (SBA) – Home and Business Disaster Loans

- Provides low interest loans to homeowners and businesses to repair or replace real estate, and personal or business property that have been damaged or destroyed.

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) – Farm Service Agency Disaster Assistance

- Provides assistance for certain farm losses resulting from natural disasters.

National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) – Processes flood insurance claims for homeowners, renters, and business owners that have existing plans.
