Congressman Chabot Statement on Obama’s Final Budget

WASHINGTON – House Committee on Small Business Chairman Steve Chabot (R-OH) made the following statement about President Obama’s FY2017 budget request:

"With this final budget, President Obama has shown once again that while he has no intention of helping small businesses, he’s counting on small businesses to help him. Small businesses routinely get hit worst and first as President Obama looks for ways to pay for his agenda. For the President, this budget is a 'Progressive dream.' For America’s 28 million small businesses, it is their worst nightmare. Our job creators deserve better than $3.4 trillion in new taxes, $2.5 trillion in new spending and a new $10 per barrel surcharge on oil that will inevitably be passed on to consumers. While House Republicans have put forward meaningful solutions that will empower entrepreneurs, the President wants to weigh them down with massive tax increases, burdensome regulations and a sudden spike in their energy costs. The House Republican budget willtake a markedlydifferent approachby putting people and small businesses first."
