A Day in the Life
7:05 a.m. - Senator Manchin arrives bright and early outside of MSNBC’s studio to meet his Communications Director and other members of his staff for his “Morning Joe” interview on the importance of equal pay.
7:45 a.m. - After finishing up at the MSNBC studio, Senator Manchin heads to the Army and Navy Club to meet with members of the defense industry over breakfast and to deliver remarks as part of the National Defense Industrial Association Legislative Breakfast series.
9:00 a.m. - After the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) breakfast, Senator Manchin departs for Capitol Hill. He checks his phone for messages and emails before heading into his office.
10:45 a.m. – Senator Manchin is joined by two interns as he walks to the Senate floor to vote on the Paycheck Fairness Act of 2014. Senator Manchin explains to them the importance of equal pay for equal work and why he is voting in favor of the bill.
11:35 a.m. - After voting on the Senate floor, Senator Manchin talks to West Virginia University Executive MBA students on the economy, jobs, small business opportunities and minimum wage.
2:30 p.m. - After returning to his office from the Pentagon, Senator Manchin meets with West Virginia representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association to discuss the importance of raising awareness in West Virginia and across our country for those individuals and families who are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.
3:05 p.m. - Senator Manchin welcomes representatives from the King Coal Authority to his office to discuss funding for the King Coal Highway, a project that he has supported since he was Governor.
3:15 p.m. - Senator Manchin receives a surprise visit from his best friend in the U.S. Senate, Illinois Senator Mark Kirk. Senator Kirk stopped by with his staff to present Senator Manchin with a gift—a framed historic tape that was removed from the Congressional Doomsday Bunker in Greenbrier, West Virginia.
4:00 p.m. - Senator Manchin joins Fox News’s anchor Neil Cavuto for a live interview from the Russell Rotunda to talk about the importance of equal pay and ways Democrats and Republicans can work together to improve the Affordable Care Act.
