On this Veterans Day, let us come together to honor our nation's veterans, thank them for their service, and remember those who lost their lives for our country. As the grandson of a B-17 Bomber Pilot and POW in World War II, I grew up with a deep appreciation for our service members, and today, I am particularly humbled by the reminder of the sacrifices our military men and women have made to secure our freedom and our rights over many generations. Let us also not forget the countless families, just like those living around Moody and Robins Air Force Bases, who provide a support system for our warfighters. It is a duty, privilege, and an honor to say "thank you, veterans." "This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." -Elmer Davis

It was an honor to be a part of the dedication of the James Slaton “Jay” Shaw Memorial Highway in Lakeland this week. I knew Jay for many years and was grateful to work with such a strong advocate for the transportation needs of the Eighth District. Jay made a huge impact on the communities of South Georgia, and his passion, integrity, and love for our state will always be remembered through this much deserved tribute to honor his life-long service.
