Valadao, Sinema Introduce Legislation to Support Startups, Create Jobs in California
Today, Congressman David G. Valadao (R-CA) introduced the Jobs in America Act. This bipartisan legislation provides immigrant entrepreneurs and foreign graduates of U.S. universities with the opportunity to stay in the United States.
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (R-CA) and U.S. Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) announced their legislation H.R. 398, the Jobs in America Act which was introduced in the United States House of Representatives. This bipartisan legislation provides immigrant entrepreneurs and foreign graduates of U.S. universities with the opportunity to stay in the United States if they demonstrate the ability to create jobs in America and bolster our economy.
Under the Jobs in America Act, immigrant entrepreneurs that create jobs, secure financing, or generate revenue, are able to appeal and extend their visa for two years and eventually be eligible for legal permanent residency should they meet specified requirements. Original cosponsors of the legislation include Representatives Carlos Curbelo (R-FL), Mia Love (R-UT), Patrick Murphy (D-FL), and Jared Polis (D-CO). Valadao represents the 21st Congressional District, which includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kern Counties.
