Over the past few years, the federal government has ballooned to an unsustainable level and has spent taxpayer dollars recklessly. Due to the federal government’s out-of-control spending, I have supported numerous measures to freeze funding for, and often cut, federal programs. I still remain firm in the belief that the nation's fiscal crisis cannot be left for the next generation to solve and that a Balanced Budget Amendment is the only real solution to reining in our ballooning deficits, living within our means and paying down the national debt. Every day, Missouri families and businesses make tough choices to balance their own budgets, and the federal government should too.
