The law, opposed by Sanders and the Vermont delegation, barred states including Vermont from setting their own labeling requirements. President Obama signed the federal measure into law on July 29.

Green Mountain Power Green Mountain Power will collect millions of dollars from customers over the next year as reimbursement for costs that the company didn’t properly document for regulators, records show, Vermont Public Radio reported. State officials have warned GMP for years about its failure to document expenses, but are not consistently enforcing the rules that were explicitly designed to prevent such costs from being passed on to customers.
