Congressional App Challenge

This year marks the third annual Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academic Competition, the “Congressional App Challenge” for high school students across the nation. This competition is designed to engage the creativity of students and encourage their participation in STEM education fields.  Established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, and held for the first time in 2014, this competition is a nationwide event that allows high school students from across the nation to compete by creating and exhibiting their software application, or “app,” for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice. Throughout the completion period, participating students will be provided opportunities to engage with various STEM educational partners located within the community to mentor and assist them with their app development.

Students entering the competition must submit a link to a brief (no more than 3 minutes) YouTube or VIMEO video demonstration explaining their app and what they learned through this competition process (instructions are in the 2016 Congressional Toolkit) during the Competition Submission Period between 9 AM Pacific Standard Time on JULY 18, 2016, and 9:00 AM Pacific Standard Time on NOVEMBER 2, 2016.
