"Richard Cordray and the CFPB aren’t accountable to Congress or the American people."

U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Banking Committee, issued the following statement about today’s visit of Richard Cordray, the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, to Omaha, Nebraska.

“Richard Cordray and the CFPB aren’t accountable to Congress or the American people. With access to honest and accurate information, moms and dads can make financial decisions for themselves and for their families. They don’t need an unchecked Washington bureaucracy telling them how to do it. I hope Mr. Cordray listens to Nebraskans, and recognizes that unlimited agency power cannot implement what hard work and honesty achieve.”
