In 1988, I enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves and was proud to serve with the 3rd Force Recon in the Persian Gulf War spending time in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. In 1997, I enlisted in the MS National Guard where I currently still serve. Most recently, I spent a year supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom at Mobilization Center Camp Shelby. I have also had opportunities to visit our soldiers serving overseas during my time in Congress. 

I believe that one of my first obligations in upholding the United States Constitution to ensure we provide for a strong national defense.
