South Mississippi is home to many roads, waterways, rail lines and airports that are critical to our economic development and comfortable daily living.  I work hard as your Representative in Congress to ensure that investments in infrastructure for my district and our state are maintained. Transportation assets are important to Mississippians' quality of life, and I want our state to remain competitive in this vital sector. 

We need reliable and accessible roads for work commutes, but also for emergency evacuation routes during natural disasters such as hurricanes.  Freight rail investments and our ports systems serve our manufacturing and agriculture industries for moving goods throughout the state and nation. 

As Chairman of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommitee, I also work with aviation transportation interests, including oversight of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). I was proud to serve as a conferee during the 2012 passage of the FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act.
