Montana Senators Congratulate Evan Morris and Max Sechena on Acceptance to Naval Academy

(U.S. Senate) - Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines today congratulated Max Sechena of Great Falls and Evan Morris of Bozeman on their appointments to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

"These two young men embody Montana values through and through," Tester said. "They're leaders, scholars, and athletes who strive every day to make their communities-and this nation-better. I know they will excel as midshipmen at the Naval Academy and I know our country will be better off for their service."

"Max and Evan are leaders both inside the classroom and outside and are truly an example of Montana hard work and determination," Daines stated. "I know these two will serve us proudly and strive to make our nation safer and more secure."

Sechena is a senior at Charles M. Russell High School. He is a National Honor Society member, a student government representative, a Science Bowl Team member, and a member of the varsity football and wrestling teams. His goal after graduation is to become a member of the Special Forces or a Navy SEAL.

In his nomination application Sechena wrote, "I want to put myself in an environment where every day I can be pushing myself to the limit and beyond."

Morris is a senior at Bozeman High School. He is a National Honor Society member, Student Body President, Jazz Band member, and varsity track and field athlete and football player. Both his mother and his grandfather served in the Navy, and his goal after graduation is to become a Naval Aviator.

In his nomination essay Morris wrote, "I look to make a difference; to use the abilities that God has given me to help others and be a part of something bigger than myself."

Montanans interested in applying to the nation's military academies can request nominations from Tester and Daines through their websites.
