Internships are available in my Washington, D.C., and Provo offices during the fall, winter, spring, or summer semesters. Intern responsibilities will vary depending on the office in which you work.
All interns can expect to be asked to answer phones, write letters, and research the status of legislation. Interns in my Washington, D.C. office will also give tours, research legislation for me and my legislative staff, and attend meetings, hearings and briefings. Interns in my district offices may also be asked to attend outreach meetings in the community and assist in helping constituents who are having problems with a federal agency.
Internships are valuable learning experiences. Interns will learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. Typically, intern applicants will apply through their respective schools and will be asked to submit a resume, two writing samples demonstrating their ability to communicate through written word clearly and succinctly, and a letter of recommendation.
