Internships

Washington, DC

In my Washington, DC office, internships run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for college students. Students can gain invaluable work experience through this program. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session. During the summer semester, we have two, six-week terms to accommodate as many students as we can.

In Washington, interns will have a unique opportunity to see the legislative process up close and personal. Responsibilities include answering phones, researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, and attending hearings and briefings.

Mississippi

In my Mississippi office, interns assist with day-to-day office work such as answering phones and writing letters. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist with District-based projects of importance.
