Congressional Art Competition

 


High school students living in the 4th Congressional District are invited to participate in the annual Art Contest hosted by
the U.S. House of Representatives. Enter your artwork for a chance to have it displayed in the United States Capitol for
an entire year.

-How to Enter-
Submit a completed Student Release Form with pictures of your art work to bridgette.jones@mail.house.gov or you can mail everything directly to the
Biloxi office. Please label images with the name of the artist, type of medium, and the title of the piece.


Student Form & Image Due April 22, 2016 
By entering online, you are agreeing to the terms detailed in the 2016 Art Student Release Form.
 
New This Year: Theme Bonus
2016 Theme: "My Mississippi Home"

There are no restrictions on the subject matter; however, an additional bonus point will be awarded to the jury score for any piece that represents their
4th District. This year's theme for the 4th District will be "My Mississippi Home". With this theme you can capture anything that represents Mississippi for you!

The contest only accepts two-dimensional pieces no larger than 28” x 28” x 4”.
New: Each contestant is now allowed to submit a maximum of 3 pieces of art work.

Teacher Information
Teachers are welcome to submit artwork on behalf of their students.
Step 1: Submit the completed the Student Release Form as instructed above.
Step 2: Email JPEG images of the artwork to bridgette.jones@mail.house.gov.
Or you can mail a CD with ALL artwork to the Biloxi District Office.


Teachers are welcome to request different methods of sharing content.

Please label the images with the student's name, school, title of artwork and medium.
1st Place Overall Winner

· Artwork to be displayed in the Capitol for a year

· Winner will be invited to attend the Congressional Art Competition Reception in Washington, DC in May

· Southwest Airlines will provide airfare for the winner and chaperon

2nd Place Overall Winner

· Artwork to be displayed in either the Biloxi or Hattiesburg District Office for a year
 
All participants will receive a certificate for participation and art will be featured in an Online gallery!!
