Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) made the following statement after receiving a 100 percent on the 2013 Defenders of Wildlife Conservation Report Card:

“I am pleased to receive this recognition from the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund. Throughout my career, I have consistently supported the preservation of our nation’s wildlife and environment, and will continue to support environmental conservation.

“As a Floridian, I am acutely aware of the vital need for preservation and conservation efforts. I believe we have a moral obligation to protect wildlife, endangered species, and their natural habitat. The Everglades ecosystem makes up a large portion of my Congressional district, and I will remain a tireless advocate for conservation efforts at home and across the globe.”
