Vitter Honors Woman Entrepreneur for Cooking Up Healthy Lifestyle

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SBC), announced Holly Clegg of Baton Rouge, La. as Small Business of the Week, and will be submitting it into the official Congressional Record.

“Small businesses come in many different shapes and sizes, and Holly Clegg has turned her passion for Louisiana-inspired meals and healthy eating into a thriving business for over 20 years,” said Vitter. “As we recognize the month of October as National Women’s Small Business Month, I’m pleased to announce Louisiana entrepreneur Holly Clegg as this week’s Small Business of the Week, and I look forward to her continued success.”

For more than 20 years, Holly’s entrepreneurial spirit has driven her success as an author of some of Louisiana’s most popular cookbooks. After attending the prestigious Cordon Bleu Cooking Schools in London and Paris, Holly Clegg launched a line of cookbooks focused on successfully combining the flavors of Louisiana cuisine with the benefits of healthy eating. As part of developing her “trim&TERRIFIC” book series, Clegg partnered with various organizations to develop cookbooks for people fighting heart disease, cancer, and arthritis. Having sold over one million books, Clegg’s success has helped her gain regional and national attention, appearing on various national media outlets to share her message of healthy eating.

October is National Women’s Small Business Month, celebrating the more than 9.8 million woman-owned small businesses in the United States. Women-owned businesses employ nearly nine million Americans, making up one third of all businesses, and contributing over a trillion dollars to the economy.

As the Senate Small Business Committee Chairman, Vitter continues the tradition of honoring America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.
