As the Senate began debate today on a resolution that will provide the tools necessary to repeal Obamacare, Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, said Congress must act to repeal this law and provide relief to millions of Americans.

“It is time to lift the burdens and higher costs Obamacare has placed on all Americans,” Chairman Enzi said. “The Senate this week is focused on true legislative relief from this law that Americans have long demanded, while ensuring a stable transition in which those with insurance will not lose access to health care coverage. Unwinding this tangle of partisan gridlock to make meaningful changes will not be easy. Our goal is to create a health care system where Washington makes fewer healthcare decisions, and families are empowered to control their own health care with more choices and lower costs.”

Yesterday, Chairman Enzi filed a resolution that will allow repeal legislation to move through a fast-track process and pass with only a simple majority in the Senate, as in the House. This will allow committees to facilitate immediate action on repeal, with the intent of sending legislation to the new President’s desk as soon as possible.
